9-7,8/2013 Rising Sun Tourney

The 2 day mega tourney in Rising Sun Indiana had 154 boats last year when i fished it and 124 this year. My opinion is the lower number of boats has to do directly with the lack of quality fish caught in these waters because of lack of protection and over harvest by commercial fisherman. I fished this year with Scott Wiseman in his boat.

We stayed at a friends house a block away from the ramp which is awesome of him to allow. Thank you Max!

The tournament day 1 started off with a fog delay for a little over an hour, once it started we went to a flathead hole and sat for a little too long i think now as i look back on it. We then moved to up river in the OH/KY area to remove some of the boats and fishing pressure. We battled the baby blues catching 4 fish with a total of only 8.4lbs for day 1. Our buddies Chuck and James was holding down 2nd place with a very nice 89lbs.

Day 2 we decided not to even mess with trying for flatties and go even further up river than we did last time and drift. We got to where we wanted to start and drifted about 150-200 yards down and caught 3 very nice channel cats all around 9-12lbs each. We decided we should re-drift that same stretch. On drift number 2 we caught another nice channel near same size. Did it again and got the same result 1 more nice channel. On the last drift we cut it short not catching any and moved to anchor and fish under a barge close by. We had 20 mins to fish it and id say 15 of it was crazy waves from every pleasure boater and barge that was in the area had to make it tough for us lol. We weighed in 45.6 lbs of channel cats on day 2 to give us a total of 54lbs even. Sunday was very hot and absolutely no wind at all, it was kind of really miserable but tolerable for fishing.
