5/4/2013 EC Madison,IN

On May 4th 2013 Extreme Catfishing held their 2nd tournament at Madison, IN on the Ohio River.

5 boats showed up. This is a new for this area tournament trail so numbers are still low until it gets some time under its belt. Its ran by Chad Waugh and Kris Workman and is the trail that brings us the Iron Man in Carrollton, KY annual event.

I took a CFPro buddy Mark Dillon for his first time fishing the big river. He met at my house at 2am and we got everything ready and headed for Madison.

When we arrived i realized i forgot the batteries for my aerator with the gills in it and about half had died. We set out on the water for our first spot and got set up for some flathead action. We had a few bites and one i told Mark i thought was very characteristic of a flathead. We gave it about an hour and decided to head to the next spot. Upon starting to real in i realized immediately there was a fish on and handed the rod over to Mark. He got it in and it was a 3lb flattie. We then headed to the next spot and got a few good runs/bites but nothing hooked up. We decided to go back to the flathead spot and try some more around there. We could not hook into anything else. Water temp was about 65 and weather was cloudy with some small pockets of rain.

We ended up being DQd for being about 3 minutes late to the ramp. I guess my fish finder and phone are not on the same time but i learned my lesson i have been playing it too close all year and got nailed on it this time. From now on i will be at the ramp early. Again Mark it was great to have you and next time i hope to get you on some bigger fish.
