5-31-2014  Extreme Catfishing Troy,IN (Ohio River)

I got to this tourney the day before and waited for my partner so we could go tot he dam and try to catch fresh skipjack but he ended up being 4+ hours late so i sat on the bank and threw some poles out to pass the time.

We got a couple hours of sleep in our trucks and started the tournament by heading up to the Cannelton Dam. We tried dirfting around for an hour or so and got not bites.

We did mark fish and had baits in every part of the water column but nothing. We decided to move down a little and anchor up on both sides of the dam. This also yielded us no bites or fish.

We ran down river and noticed the most fish i have ever seen on my fish finder in my life. I am talking tens of thousands of fish. They were silver carp.

We anchored up behind a barge and caught a few fresh skipjack and had some runs but soon figured out they were gar so we moved yet again.

We anchored up in a deep bend and i still had my 8oz on and cast my pole out and it locked up and yanked the pole right out of my hands and into the river. We are talking a very nice Blackhorse Custom Rod and an Alphamarr 16 so over $300 combo. We caught no fish there and moved to one other spot and still caught no fish.

We ended up skunking, losing my rod and my motor was not running right. So it was just one of those bad days. They happen to all of us and all we can do is try to move past it and not let it affect the rest of the day, Especially because we was leaving this tournament to head to another.

Congrats to Adam Winder and John Harden for winning the tournament.
