5-10-2014 Tri-State Shootout (Tanners Creek Ohio River)

I fished this tournament with Cory Wines. Was my first time fishing with him and he wanted to get his first flathead and i planned on targeting them for this tourney so i thought i could maybe help him with that.

We set up at my favorite flathead spot and gave it longer than we should have but just could not get a fish there. We moved across the river to a nice looking 2nd spot with many trees under water and right off the bank. We caught 1 small flathead there but not enough action to keep us there.

We then headed up into a tributary a pretty good ways and fished 2 spots in there that only produced a couple channel cats. The river was on a drop and i dont care for fishing tribs when they are on the drop so we moved back out to the Ohio.

Our last spot of the day also hit us with the worst storm of the day. Lightning was hitting within a few miles of us and the rain was torrential. We did manage 1 more decent 6lb channel at that spot.

Overall i felt the water temp was still a little cool for the flatheads but they should be really on any time now.

There was 49 boats in the tourney and we finished 26th
