11-9-2013 ICA New Albany (Open)

11-9-2013 ICA @ New Albany (Open)

This tournament my plan was to fish the dam. I fished with Doug Parkison. We got anchored after a couple hiccups and sat and fished for a couple hours and decided to move. We looked around and decided to take a huge gamble and go 30 miles up river after locking through.

This was my first time locking through so it was a learning experience in itself.

When we got out in front of Louisville the water was crazy we was full throttle hitting 3-5 foot waves. My boat was in the air A LOT and coming down pretty hard. It got scary a few times. It took about an hour and 20 minutes to get to where we wanted to be. As soon as we got in we had high hopes as we marked some good fish.

We had a lot of bites but just not hooking up we finally got one and it was of course what i have been battling all year on the Ohio a 1.8lb baby blue.

On the way back luckily there was a marina gas pump so i got some gas. The water was still bad but wind pushing against us actually made the boat ride the white caps better.

We only caught the one fish and i learned not to go that far unless i feel really confident i need to.
